On Being Grey

Today was the first glimpse of summer with close to hot temperatures but a soft and continuous breeze made it tolerable if not enjoyable. Driving through a winding suburban neighborhood with my windows all open whipped my long hair out the window. I pulled up to a stop light and marveled at the bursting trees and landscape. Another car pulled along the left side of my car, sharp and argumentative voices drifting out their opened window getting louder as they approached. I did not turn my head to look but did find my hearing in the left ear become hyper alert able to distinguish the words and not just the intonation. The nasel woman's voice whined out "I dye my hair because every time you see a grey hair you point and make fun of me. You would not like the way I would look." I have elbow length grey hair.
